As you
are aware, the power distribution has been privatized in Delhi.
After the Reforms Act, the authority to make amendments in
the tariff , laws and regulations, is with Delhi Electricity
Regulatory Commission. A new tariff is being worked out by
DERC with changes in regulations. The private companies are
interested in increase in tariff and making the laws more
stringent. Energywatch, has studied the new proposals and
have filed petition in the DERC.
Rajiv
Gandhi Foundation and Energywatch (specialized institution
floated by FISME) are jointly organizing a discussion on the
topic " Power Tariff in Delhi".

Mr. Sunder Lal
Mr. Sunder Lal is Chief Advisor
to Energywatch. An electrical engineer from Roorkee University
(now IIT- R), he served UPSEB for 35 years before retiring
from the post of Chief Engineer. He is one of the few people
who handled the take over of private distribution companies
in 70s and oversaw the reform and privatization process in
90s. he is widely acknowledged as an expert on commercio-technical
aspects of distribution of electricity.
